POST-TENSE // CURATORIAL PRACTICES 2024
Dec 14 – Feb 9, 2025
Post-Tense explores community, belonging, and displacement. The twelve artists included in the exhibition navigate these themes across artistic disciplines, and through their lived experiences. The artworks represent conceptions of place, both human-made and natural, as well as the people who dwell in these spaces. The exhibition is a testament to the importance of cultivating and sustaining community, while challenging our understanding of the structures that form our social fabric.
Post-Tense is co-curated by a group of MassArt graduate students as the central practicum of the course Curatorial Practices led by Visiting Graduate Faculty, Sam Toabe. Curators worked throughout the semester to conduct research, hold studio visits with local artists, and build an exhibition from the ground up. Post-Tense is the culmination of this work, and an homage to the Greater Boston Arts community.
