Yael Alkalay

MFA ’14 DMI

My work articulates issues significant to women’s lives and voice in the digital world. I explore women’s expressions across virtual and physical boundaries, across private and public spaces, and within conscious and spontaneous online interactions.

The worldwide pandemic introduced a new “normal.” The shift to remote work has been challenging for many, perhaps especially women and working moms. The Zoom painting series includes multiple frames of women portraits. Each portrait is a story of a digital connection – a physical representation (the painting) that was inspired by a digital moment.
