Jenny Olsen

MFA ’22 Fine Arts 2D

I am a painter. Oil is my chosen medium.  I use figures to anchor and to add physicality to my work.  I paint people I know including myself.  The painting “Cancan” featured in the show could be a self-portrait and is the first piece in my “Dance” series.   The title itself is quite revealing:  The cancan evokes images of festive Paris, brimming with pleasure, fun and freedom.  In this dance, the woman leads, and in this painting, a woman in white takes center stage, embodying the freedom to do anything her heart desires.
