In the tradition of sculptural commemoration, the bust is used to celebrate and commemorate prominent, powerful and significant figures. Missing Persons contends with this tradition and turns it inside out; it is a bust in the negative and not individually specific. Missing Persons is a commemoration of loss – those gone, removed, lost, displaced or misplaced – a remembrance of all numerous and nameless persons who have left a gaping chasm in their absence.

Dennis Svoronos is a Boston-based sculptor whose work has been shown nationally and internationally. He is part-time faculty in Sculpture and Graduate Studies at MassArt and 3D Design at Northeastern University; he holds a Diploma of Fine Arts from the School of the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston, a BFA from Tufts University and an MFA from the Massachusetts College of Art and Design.
