I make works that are first felt and understood within the body, then investigated. They explore how strength can be found in vulnerabilities of the body, both our processing system and the seat of our intelligence. Materials connect and merge, forming a communication system like the electrical diagrams my father used as an electrical engineer. Sculptural forms cross boundaries of genre and materiality, emphasizing moments of exchange and connection between the earth, body, self, and spirit. The array of materials explores the porousness of our physical and empathic experiences.
They Say are small sculptural works where conversations between materials reflect the evolving conversations I have with other artists about art and practice, the flexibility of meaning and somatic wisdom.
These wall-hung works are made of studio leftovers, wood scrap from my university wood shop, disassembled pieces of my old works, glass shards and remaindered fabrics. They are based on memories of conversations where a moment of revelation, a moment of truth appeared between us. I carry these moments back to the studio and develop these works to honor and investigate the honesty of connection. These conversations form a web of significance in feeding meaning back into the materials.

Goldstein’s work has involved performative sculpture, installations, and sculpture.
She has exhibited extensively, notably the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston, performed at the sculpture grounds of the Decordova Sculpture Park and the D.U.M.B.O Arts Festival, Brooklyn. Goldstein has been the recipient of Berkshire Taconic Trust ART Award, the Emerging Artist Award from the International Association of Art Critics New England Chapter, MassCultural Council and The School of the Museum of Fine Arts Alumni Traveling Scholarship Award.
