    • Fact 1: In 2023, the number of people forcibly displaced by persecution, conflict, violence, human rights violations and events seriously disturbing public order grew by 21% standing at an estimated 108.4 million at the end of the year.
    • Fact 2: In February 2022, the Russian Federationā€™s full-scale invasion of Ukraine created the fastest displacement crisis, and one of the largest, since the Second World War. In the early days of the war, more than 200,000 refugees per day sought safety across borders.
    • Fact 3: The United States of America remained the largest recipient of asylum applications, receiving 730,400 new claims, nearly four times more than during 2021.*
