My large scale woodcut prints incorporate the many layers of the urban landscape. A recurring theme in my work is the visualization of a forgotten history that is no longer present. I reveal the residual traces of objects, individuals or places by showing the scaffolding, framework or footprint of what was. Many of my pieces straddle the line between a structure being torn down and a structure being erected. I mine the visual vocabulary of the urban landscape to create densely layered imagery using transparent and metallic inks that reflect light in different ways depending on your proximity to the piece. Decades of imagery and information accumulate and deteriorate at various stages of recognition, representing the passage of time and the memories of a location or structure.
