Parastoo Shafiei
Dam (The Breath) is an electronic work created from the sound of a French horn playing a sustained note. By recording and manipulating this solitary source, the piece explores the sonic possibilities inherent in a single sound source while creating an eerie atmosphere and a sense of being in space. The sound heard in the work is derived from this original material.

Parastoo Shafiei (b. 1999, Iran) is an artist primarily working with sound. She earned degrees in music composition from the Art University of Tehran and the University of Tehran. Currently, she is pursuing a Doctor of Musical Arts in music composition at Boston University.
