My current work explores how we process our surroundings when our everyday environments are disrupted. I am fascinated by the idea of a “glitch” not as a failure or a mistake, but as a healthy, creative break in our normal routines that invites us to look at the world in brand new ways. Through my ceramics, I want to create a hybrid space where human logic, functional objects, and nature interact in unexpected ways. My artwork, Falling Out of Rhythm embodies this concept by disrupting the traditional smooth donut form. I built a smooth, circular silhouette, but while handling it broke its natural rhythm later that opening made a space cavity to store flowers. To make it a multi-sensory experience, I designed a hidden base for incense and light, allowing smoke and a warm glow to drift through the structure. The dark, unpredictable surface is covered in rhythmic yellow glaze patches that look like distorted petals or wild plumage, acting as a form of natural noise. By engaging your sight, scent, and touch all at once. Through this productive disorientation, I hope to inspire viewers to pause, re-process their surroundings, and appreciate the unexpected beauty found when we fall out of rhythm.
