Davit Botch
MFA ’24 Fine Arts 2D
Davit’s art focuses on the natural world’s visible and invisible elements. His creative process blends traditional methods with new techniques and the innovative use of materials. He is captivated by nature’s profound intelligence—its intricate designs, rhythmic movements, and powerful vibrations connecting all life forms. These natural elements are central to his artwork, enabling him to explore human existence’s physical, emotional, spiritual, and mental aspects and capture the dual nature of reality, highlighting the contrast between chaos and calmness.
His artwork also serves as a means to understand himself and, by extension, the world around him. It reflects his journey from his early life in Georgia, marked by war and economic hardship, to his current life in the United States as a queer immigrant. His pieces often explore themes of identity, resilience, and the broader human experience, all shaped by his diverse cultural background.
Davit predominantly uses an abstract style, which allows him to convey complex thoughts and feelings that transcend simple visual representation. He works with various mediums, including painting, sculpture, photography, and video, to create engaging pieces that encourage deep reflection and dialogue.
