I work in collaboration with my body to create open, abstract imagery.
Referencing the contours and marks of my form, I repeatedly layer drawings of myself- building and erasing the image until it becomes something unrecognizable. This process gives me valuable time to reflect on how I see myself and what possibilities can emerge from that perspective. The depiction of my body is no longer singular; multiple moments and viewpoints coexist within a single piece.
As I work with my body, my practice has also become an exploration of the materials themselves. The materiality of paint, charcoal, and ink opens up endless possibilities, allowing me to build a personal visual language alongside the subject.
In merging figuration with abstraction, my work becomes an ongoing investigation of self and materiality, resulting in imagery that feels both expansive and intimate, challenging and alive.
