Alisa Rodny

MAT ’10 Art Education

Making maps is one of the things I do as an artist. As a child of immigration, the act of traversing physical and mental spaces is built into the basic processing of my life. Re-imagining those spaces is an act of healing, and being an artist provides me the luxury to engage in this act. As I make the world “mine,” I am afforded the opportunity to travel back to my childhood, and to plot various paths through my imagination back to myself.

Alisa Rodny is a Boston based mixed media artist and a visual arts teacher in Boston Public Schools. Working at the intersection of creative chaos and deliberate slowness, Rodny creates pieces that evolve and reinvent themselves over time, and are not constrained by reality or by demands of the marketplace.
